STEAM Educator Type:
Full-Time We are seeing a passionate and innovative science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) educator for a split position between Lucy Addison Middle School and James Breckinridge Middle School.
Position Overview:
The STEAM Educator will be responsible for developing and delivering an engaging and interdisciplinary STEAM curriculum to middle school students. This role requires a strong foundation in STEAM subjects, a commitment to hands-on learning, and the ability to integrate arts into the traditional STEM fields. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a desire to create a stimulating learning environment that encourages student curiosity and achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive STEAM curriculum aligned with state and national standards. Create and deliver engaging, hands-on STEAM lessons that encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and innovation. Utilize a variety of instructional methods and resources, including technology, to support diverse learning styles. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the academic and personal growth of all students. Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to guide their learning journey. Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to enhance the STEAM program and support student success. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in STEAM education.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a STEAM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) or Education with a STEAM focus. Master's degree preferred. Teaching certification in the state of Virginia or eligibility to obtain certification. Proven experience in teaching STEAM subjects at the middle school level. Strong knowledge of STEAM curriculum development and instructional strategies. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students. Proficiency in using technology and digital tools to enhance teaching and learning. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily controlled temperature and clean classroom environment. Exposure to outside elements may occur during transitions, field trips, and recess.
