Continuing Deer Park School District is seeking a collaborative and student-centered educator to serve in a dual-role position supporting both Multilingual Learner (MLL) and Highly Capable (HC) programming across all K-12 schools in the district. This position provides district-wide leadership, instructional support, student services, and program coordination to ensure equitable access to high-quality programming for multilingual and highly capable learners. The successful candidate will collaborate with staff and families to support student identification processes, strengthen instructional practices, and ensure implementation of state and federal program requirements. Required Qualifications Valid Washington State teaching certificate English Second Language or English Language Learner endorsement required Knowledge of WIDA instructional frameworks, WIDA Screener, and
WIDA ACCESS
assessment systems. Knowledge of multilingual learner compliance requirements and Washington State Highly Capable program regulations Preferred Qualifications Highly Capable endorsement preferred Experience coordinating or supporting multilingual learners and/or highly capable programs Experience providing professional development or instructional coaching to staff Experience working with diverse student populations and collaborating with staff in a K-12 setting
Essential Functions:
Multilingual Learner Program Responsibilities Coordinate district-wide multilingual learner services for students in grades K-12 across multiple school buildings. Ensure compliance with all state and federal requirements related to multilingual learner identification, placement, assessment, monitoring, reporting, and services. Administer and/or oversee screening, placement, and annual assessment procedures using the WIDA Screener and
WIDA ACCESS
assessment system. Provide direct instructional services for identified multilingual learners through inclusion and/or pull-out models based on student need. Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support effective instructional strategies, accommodations, language development, and culturally responsive practices. Apply language acquisition practices to support instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing across content areas. Adapt curriculum and instructional supports to meet varying language proficiency levels and student needs. Serve as a consultant and resource for district and building staff regarding best practices for multilingual learners. Participate in district and building Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to support student success and instructional collaboration. Maintain accurate records, compliance documentation, and timely reporting requirements. Communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and community members regarding multilingual learner services and supports. Highly Capable Program Responsibilities Coordinate district-wide Highly Capable programming and services for students in grades K-12. Convene and oversee annual multidisciplinary team meetings and identification processes for highly capable students. Develop, implement, and maintain district identification procedures in accordance with Washington State Highly Capable regulations, WACs, and RCWs. Attend and participate in OSPI meetings and trainings to ensure district compliance and implementation of current program requirements. Communicate directly with parents and families regarding highly capable identification, services, appeals, and student support. Consult with families and staff regarding best practices, instructional strategies, and social-emotional supports for highly capable learners. Provide instructional coaching and classroom support to teachers regarding differentiation, enrichment, and extension opportunities for advanced learners. Facilitate small-group instruction and enrichment opportunities for highly capable students. Hold quarterly meetings for Highly Capable Building Representatives, publish meeting minutes, and coordinate follow-up actions. Participate in PLC meetings periodically to provide guidance and support related to highly capable learners. Collaborate with administrators and staff to strengthen equitable identification practices and services for underrepresented student groups. Deer Park policies and Procedures can be accessed online at https://app.eduportal.com/publicfolders/1111511/list/56713 The 2026-2027 base salary range for certificated staff in the Deer Park School District is between $58,447 to $115,275 per school year. Placement is defined within the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and is generally based upon a combination of Education and Experience. Other forms of compensation may be available to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range or wage scale as defined within the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
