8:30 am-1:30 pm (Monday-Thursday)

Job Summary:
The Summer STEM Academy Teacher is responsible for creating and facilitating engaging, hands-on STEM learning experiences for students entering grades 4-6. Teachers will inspire curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving through project-based learning activities designed to "unplug" students from technology and immerse them in real-world STEM challenges. Teachers will foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment while supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and facilitate engaging STEM lessons and activities aligned with the academy theme. Create hands-on learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, innovation, teamwork, and creativity. Establish and maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment. Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Supervise students during all academy activities, including transitions, outdoor learning experiences, and lunch. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Collaborate with fellow academy teachers and the Summer STEM Academy Coordinator. Assist with setup, organization, and cleanup of materials and learning spaces. Communicate student successes, concerns, and needs with academy leadership. Model positive behavior, enthusiasm, and a growth mindset. Follow district policies and procedures regarding student supervision and safety.
Qualifications:
Current Washington State Teaching Certificate. Experience working with elementary or middle school students. Knowledge of STEM education, project-based learning, and inquiry-based instruction. Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills. Ability to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with staff and academy leadership. Passion for inspiring students through hands-on learning and exploration.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching STEM, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, robotics, coding, environmental science, or related subjects. Experience teaching in summer programs, camps, or enrichment settings. Training in project-based learning or experiential education.
