Job Description

General Summary :
Teach French to students in USM's Middle School. Support USM's mission to cultivate learners, leaders, and citizens through its academic and co-curricular programming. Model a passion for French and love for learning, and help students meet their intellectual and social-emotional potential. Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen French curriculum, to develop the craft of teaching, and to enhance the Middle School community and USM community as a whole. Embody the values of

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach five sections of French. Plan and implement engaging and differentiated lessons. Craft formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning. Provide meaningful, growth-oriented feedback to students. Inspire an appreciation for French in students. Advise a group of Middle School students. Engage in regular professional development opportunities, in and outside of USM, to grow as a teacher. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the Middle School French department. Joyfully contribute to an inclusive school culture in which students are engaged, known, and valued. Attend meetings and complete other duties as assigned in order to support the functioning of the Middle School.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong content knowledge and enthusiasm for French. Deep respect and appreciation for Middle School students. Strong pedagogical knowledge and a desire to continually grow. Strong interpersonal skills and an eagerness to collaborate with others.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in French or related area. Teaching experience, preferably at the Middle School level.
