A Middle or High School Teacher teaches middle school students, usually in grades 6 - 12, in a public or private school. Teaches one subject, or a group of subjects, such as math and science; works with one class all year or teaches different classes of students throughout the day. May mentor students, coach a school team or advise a student club. May specialize in working with students learning English or students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

As an After-School Teacher/Counselor, you will help children learn, grow, and have fun through homework assistance, arts and crafts, STEM projects, outdoor play, team-building games, sports, special events, and more. The safety and well-being of every child is our highest priority. Team members are responsible for actively supervising children at all times, maintaining a safe and positive environment, following all childcare licensing regulations and Discovery Kingdom policies, conducting attendance and head counts during transitions, ensuring children are safely transported when applicable, and responding appropriately to emergencies. Building positive relationships while keeping children safe is at the heart of everything we do. This position is part-time during the school year , with full-day shifts available on school breaks, holidays, snow days, teacher workdays, and throughout the summer , providing opportunities for additional hours. Every day is an opportunity to encourage creativity, build confidence, create lasting memories, and make a positive impact in a child's life!
Applicants must:
Be at least 18 years old (21 years old to drive the bus). Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Consent to fingerprinting, a criminal background check, driver's license check, Child Protective Services record check, and a sex offender registry check. Have a valid driver's license (preferred). Prior experience working with children is highly preferred. Be dependable, positive, patient, and committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment. Be able to communicate effectively with children, families, and fellow team members.
