Weekend Museum Custodian

About the Role Old Sturbridge Village is seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented Custodian to help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming facilities across our large, historic campus. This position plays a key role in ensuring a positive experience for all guests, staff, and volunteers. What You'll Do Perform routine cleaning: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, break rooms, and public areas Complete floor care tasks including buffing, stripping, waxing, and operating floor‑care equipment Conduct deep cleaning and industrial cleaning following safety procedures Replenish and organize cleaning supplies; ensure proper chemical storage Assist with minor facility maintenance and report any issues or safety concerns Set up and break down rooms or event spaces as needed Promote a workplace that supports diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility Essential Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to perform the following essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation: Stand for long periods Walk long distances across a large campus with uneven terrain Work outdoors and travel between buildings in all weather conditions Regularly lift up to 30 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch/squat, reach, grasp, push, and pull as part of daily duties Perform repetitive motions related to custodial tasks Work early mornings (5:30 a.m.) and weekends as scheduled Preferred Experience Custodial or facilities maintenance experience Familiarity with commercial cleaning equipment and chemicals Experience with painting or porter services (a plus) Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication skills and a dependable work ethic Why Join Us? Pay:

$15.00-$16.50 per hour
