Assists the Sr. Gallery Coordinator in planning and facilitating operational and educational activities and exhibitions in the art galleries. 1. Assists in coordinating annual or semi-annual exhibitions on all campuses, artist lectures, workshops, receptions, other related educational programming, and occasional collaborative events with other departments. 2. Opens and closes the art galleries, takes attendance, answers questions, performs docent duties and maintains a clean and orderly space in the Galleries. 3. Assists in coordinating the part-time staff schedule to ensure coverage for each staffed gallery space during Gallery hours. 4. Assists in coordinating the handling, installation, deinstallation, labeling and display of artwork. 5. Assists with marketing campaigns via social media, the gallery blog and website and collaborates with CMPR to ensure a unified brand identity. 6. Assists in maintaining location and condition records as well as newly accessioned and/or deaccessioned artwork in the College's Art Collection. 7. Assists artists with navigating paperwork for loan agreements and NC E-procurement and ensures that all documentation is completed by deadlines. 8. Conducts sales of artwork in the gallery and assists in creating check requests for specified artists. 9. Helps coordinate and plan mass email invitations and information to patrons. 10. Assists with arrangements to digitally document Central Piedmont exhibitions and to add digital images to Central Piedmont's online platform via Excel and Museum Software. 11. Maintains the records of contractual agreements and check requests for sales. 12. Performs other duties as assigned. Associate Degree in Arts or related field; one year or more of operational experience working in an art gallery, or museum
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Arts or related field such as Art History, History, Business, or Arts Administration 2 years or more of operational experience working in an art gallery or museum.
- Prompt and possesses good time management skills
- Knowledge of art gallery operations and administration
- Understanding of safe art handling, spotting, hanging and labeling
- Ability to install vinyl signage and lettering
- Familiar with Graphic Design systems such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, Adobe Express, etc.
- Understanding of contracts and art sales
- Experience with event planning, and occasional public speaking
- Organization, research, and data entry skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled with computer system and graphic and internet-related applications
