A Museum Curator builds and maintains collections at art museums and other museums. Uses in-depth knowledge of art or other artifacts to plan displays and exhibits, advise on museum acquisitions, identify and appraise works. A Museum Director manages overall museum operations.
Non-standard with availability for weekdays 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 12pm - 6pm, and occasional evenings.

is a collaborative project space that inhabits a 100-year-old historic home, where community and art converge in the predominantly Black and Latina/e/o neighborhood of Polytechnic in Fort Worth, Texas. Our goal is to uplift the beauty, talent, and culture in Polytechnic and feed its creativity by offering collaborative exhibitions, events, and educational opportunities of various disciplines. Through partnerships with community-minded creatives and project-based artists, we will build outside the preconceived ideas of "what art is," exploring the intersections of life, cultural pursuits, and artistry.
Position Description:
The Gallery Assistant provides essential support to Kinfolk House by interacting with visitors, tracking attendance, inputting data as needed, and helping to maintain the general upkeep of the space. Additionally, the Gallery Assistant will assist with installation and deinstallation of works of art, minor projects around the site, and educational programs such as tours and workshops.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as a welcoming representative of
Kinfolk House:
greeting and directing visitors and providing information about artworks and upcoming programs. Enforces safety, rules, and policies as needed. Assists in the collection and reporting of data including attendance numbers and maintaining the Kinfolk House E-Newsletter contact list. Helps to maintain the physical space of Kinfolk House including cleaning, organizing, preparing and stocking materials. Supervises volunteers as needed. Collaborates and/or assists with educational fellow. Assists with educational programs as needed. Reports any maintenance, security, or visitor services-related issues to the supervisor to optimize the visitor experience.
Requirements:
Experience or demonstrated interest in visual arts, museums, community engagement, education, or a related field. Academic, professional, volunteer, and lived experience will be considered. One year of relevant experience is preferred. Relevant experience may include customer service, art handling, galleries or museums, education, community-based programs, events, or related work. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills as well as a comfort with engaging people of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work effectively and efficiently with attention to detail. Ability to work well as part of a team environment, take initiative, and problem solve. Interest in and comfort level talking about art. Must be willing to work Saturdays and occasional evenings. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred. Comfortable with technology (specifically Google Drive - Docs, Sheets, and Forms), MailChimp, and Canva) preferred. Artistic and/or "handy" skills is a plus.
