May 6, 2026 About Us The City of Carrollton is a municipality dedicated to revitalizing and sustaining our historic downtown district. As part of the nationally recognized Kentucky Main Street program, we work to strengthen economic vitality, preserve historic character, and promote our downtown as a vibrant destination for residents, businesses, and visitors. Position Summary The Main Street Director serves as the chief administrator for the downtown revitalization program, leading efforts in economic development, historic preservation, promotion, and organizational management. This role works closely with the board of directors, local government, businesses, and community stakeholders and shall act as the principal liaison between the Carrollton Main Street Program and the Kentucky Heritage Council. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and support Main Street Program committees, ensuring effective communication, accountability, and successful completion of initiatives. Collaborate with local government, community organizations, downtown businesses, and property owners to implement the four pillars of the
Main Street Approach:
promotion, design, organization, and economic vitality. Manage all administrative aspects of the program in compliance with requirements set by the Kentucky Main Street Program and the National Main Street Center. Partner with downtown merchants to plan, organize, and execute community events approved by the City. Work with the Carrollton Main Street Board of Directors to develop strategic goals, work plans, and measurable outcomes. Lead public awareness and education efforts to build community support, including speaking engagements, media outreach, and promotional campaigns. Foster collaboration among downtown stakeholders and serve as a resource for businesses and property owners. Provide technical assistance and guidance to tenants and property owners, including referrals to designers, contractors, and other professionals. Maintain knowledge of available financial incentives and communicate opportunities to support downtown development projects. Identify and pursue grant funding opportunities from public and private sources; prepare and manage grant applications and reporting requirements. Recruit, support, and retain downtown businesses Coordinate volunteers and committees Qualifications • The Director should have post-secondary education or work experience in one or more of the following fields: public administration, finance, historic preservation, architecture, design, public relations, non-profit/volunteer administration, small business administration or development, and/or municipal planning. Supervisory experience is preferred.
