Executive Director Description:
Founded in 1996, the Amelia Park Children's Museum ("APCM") in Westfield, MA serves children (primarily ages 1-7) and their caregivers. APCM provides a fun and educational environment for learning through play. The museum is housed in a 10,000 sq. ft. facility and features 6,000 sq. ft. of highly interactive exhibits. The mission of Amelia Park Children's museum is to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of young learners. Amelia Park Children's Museum is ananization seeking to expand its offerings and grow its reputation as a leader in hands-on learning throughout the region. The executive director will lead this process by developing new partnerships, overseeing the creation of new learning opportunities, and continuing to grow the museum's earned and contributed revenue streams. The executive director is responsible for setting and implementing a vision for the growth of Amelia Park Children's Museum in conjunction with the Board of Directors. The executive director represents the museum publicly and oversees all museum operations, supervising a management staff of two. With the oversight of the Board, the executive director ensures fiscal stability, including seeking funding opportunities and grant writing. The executive director leads fundraising efforts, including sponsorships, events, and mailings. Additionally, the executive director is responsible for the maintenance and safety of all facilities and museum exhibits.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Museum Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration, or similar. 5 years of museum leadership may be substituted.
  • Management experience within a non-profitanization.
  • Experience working with nonprofit boards.
  • Excellent written and verbalmunication skills.
  • Financial proficiency. Ability to understand financial statements, provide meaningful reports and metrics and create the annual budget.
  • Experience with development including overseeing fundraisers, grant writing, sponsorship solicitations, annual mailings and developing a robust cadre of individual financial supporters.
  • Experience with oversight of maintaining facilities, equipment and exhibits.
  • Experience with creation of childhood educational programs and exhibits.
  • Experience with marketing including , media, social networks.

  • Regularly attend evening and weekend events including museum events, presentations, meetings, and conferences, sometimes overnight.
