Who We Are Looking For:
Star Autism Academy is seeking a compassionate, creative, and dedicated Part-Time Special Education Teacher to support students on the autism spectrum in a specialized educational setting. The ideal candidate is passionate about individualized learning, capable of fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment, and able to assist with music and art instruction as part of a well-rounded educational program. This position works up to 30 hours per week and collaborates closely with interdisciplinary team members, families, and support staff to help students achieve academic, social, emotional, and functional goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students on the autism spectrum. Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with student IEP goals and Arizona educational standards. Support student growth in academic, communication, social, and adaptive skill development. Collaborate with behavior specialists, therapists, paraprofessionals, and families to promote student success. Collect and maintain accurate student progress data and documentation. Create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment that promotes positive behavior and learning. Adapt instructional materials and teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs. Assist in planning and facilitating music and art activities that encourage creativity, engagement, and self-expression. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as assigned. Ensure compliance with all school policies, state regulations, and special education requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field. Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate. Current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card. Experience working with children on the autism spectrum or students with diverse learning needs. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families. Ability and willingness to support music and art instruction within the school program.
Perferred:
Special Education endorsement. Experience working in autism-specific educational settings. Knowledge of evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies.
