POSITION SUMMARY
The Bilingual Music Teacher delivers K-5 music instruction in Spanish within a dual language immersion setting, aligned to the Colorado Academic Standards for Music. The teacher cultivates musical literacy, vocal and instrumental skills, and cultural appreciation — with an emphasis on Latin American and Spanish-language musical traditions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and deliver Spanish-language music lessons aligned to all four CAS Music strands: Perform, Create, Respond, and Connect. Differentiate instruction across K-5 grade levels to meet students' developmental and linguistic needs. Teach rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and notation using age-appropriate methods and classroom instruments. Prepare and direct students in school performances and community events. Assess student progress using formative and summative methods; use data to guide instruction. Collaborate with classroom teachers and dual language staff to support cross-curricular learning. Collaborate with other specials teachers during PLCs and PD. Communicate with families in both Spanish and English regarding student growth and school events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Colorado CDE teaching license with Music (K-12) or Elementary Education endorsement. Spanish proficiency sufficient for classroom instruction and family communication. Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field. Knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards for Music.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in a dual language or bilingual school environment. Native or near-native Spanish fluency. Understanding of second language acquisition principles.
