Position Summary Pinecrest Academy is seeking a passionate and dynamic Music Teacher to provide a comprehensive music education program for students in grades K-8. The successful candidate will cultivate a love of music while developing students' musical knowledge, skills, creativity, and appreciation through engaging, standards-based instruction. The Music Teacher will provide general music instruction to students in grades K-5 and teach general music, choir, and beginning guitar courses for students in grades 6-8. Instruction will align with Idaho State Music Standards and support the mission and educational goals of Pinecrest Academy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based music instruction for students in grades K-5. Teach middle school general music courses aligned with Idaho State Music Standards. Teach and direct middle school choir programs. Teach beginning guitar classes (or a similar elective) for students in grades 6-8. Develop lesson plans that address musical literacy, performance skills, music appreciation, creativity, and cultural understanding. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Integrate technology and instructional resources to enhance music learning experiences. Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate records of achievement. Performance and Program Development Prepare students for school performances, concerts, assemblies, and special events. Organize and direct music performances that showcase student growth and achievement. Promote student participation in music-related activities and enrichment opportunities. Maintain and expand a positive, engaging music program that encourages lifelong appreciation of music. Classroom Environment Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment. Implement effective classroom management practices consistent with school policies. Foster student confidence, collaboration, creativity, and self-expression. Professional Responsibilities Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and program activities. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events. Maintain music equipment, instruments, instructional materials, and inventory. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field. Valid Idaho teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s), or ability to obtain certification. Knowledge of Idaho State Music Standards and effective instructional practices. Demonstrated ability to teach music concepts, vocal music, and beginning instrumental instruction. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Experience teaching elementary and middle school music. Experience directing choirs and student performances. Experience teaching beginning guitar (or another similar elective). Familiarity with music technology and digital music instruction tools. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to inspire students' interest and participation in music. Knowledge of vocal techniques, music theory, rhythm, and performance practices. Ability to adapt instruction to varying student abilities and learning styles. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout instructional periods. Ability to lift, move, and transport musical instruments and equipment as needed. Ability to conduct rehearsals and performances. Working Conditions The Music Teacher works in classrooms, performance spaces, and other school settings. Occasional evening performances or school events may be required.
