The instructor will teach applied violin to majors and non-majors and actively engage in recruiting for their studio. Salary is competitive to other adjunct positions in area, and additional classroom teaching opportunities may become available. Located in the Chicago area, Lewis University is a comprehensive, Catholic university, where the traditions of liberal learning, values and preparation for professional work come together with a synergy that gives the university its educational identity and focus. Founded in 1932, Lewis is a dynamic, coeducational university offering more than 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, 35 graduate programs, and two doctoral programs. Job Description Summary:
Teach applied violin lessons during the 2026 fall semester.
Responsibilities Responsibilities:
Model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education. Teach one or more classes Availability to hold office hours and meet with other faculty members, department chair, or directors when necessary Serve as a model of professionalism and act as a resource for students within the teaching-learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications Qualifications:
Required:
Masters degree or significant professional experience is required. Strong commitment to teaching and recruitment. Ability to teach beginner to advanced students.
Preferred Qualifications Desirable:
College teaching experience. Active performance career. Experience teaching improvisation. Experience teaching popular music performance. Essential Duties Work hours
