Primary Objective:

To equip and send God's people to make a Christ-like difference in the world by fostering a love for music in young students.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field. Holds a valid Indiana teaching license or currently obtaining.

Preferred:

Roster status as a "Minister of Religion" in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Major Area of Responsibilities:

• Teach general music concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and expression.
• Introduce students to various musical styles, instruments, and other music traditions.
• Plan and lead performances such as concerts, assemblies, and school events.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including singing, movement, instruments, and technology.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to integrate music into cross-curricular activities.
• Collaborate with other music teachers, feeder programs, and Concordia Lutheran High School directors to create a strong music pipeline.
• Maintain classroom instruments and resources.
• Maintain accurate grades/records of student participation and growth.
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and upcoming performances.
• Stay updated on best practices in music education and participate in professional development.

General Working Conditions:

• Elementary school setting with a dedicated music classroom.
• May require occasional evening hours for concerts or school events.
• Interaction with students, parents, and faculty members.
• Hours of work generally, 20-25 hours, Mon - Fri for 10 months, or based on needs of position

Work Environment:

• May assist with Chapel services in coordination with the Worship Director.
• Some evening and weekend commitments for concerts, competitions, festivals, or school events
• Interaction with students, parents, faculty, and the broader school community.
