Overview We are seeking a passionate and engaging part-time Instrumental Teacher to serve our middle school students in a private school setting. This position offers the opportunity to nurture students' musical development, technical proficiency, confidence, and appreciation for instrumental performance within a close-knit academic community that values character, creativity, and excellence. The ideal candidate will foster a joyful and disciplined classroom environment, support the mission of the school, and inspire students to grow as musicians, collaborators, and thoughtful young leaders. Duties Plan and deliver engaging instrumental music instruction for middle school students, using developmentally appropriate strategies that support varying skill levels and encourage musical growth. Teach foundational music skills, instrumental technique, music reading, rhythm, tone production, and performance practices in ways that build confidence, discipline, and a love of music. Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and repertoire that reflect musical excellence and support the values and mission of the private school community. Prepare students for concerts, school performances, community events, and other presentations that highlight student achievement and school spirit. Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate clearly with students and families regarding musical development and performance expectations. Create a respectful, well-managed classroom or rehearsal environment that encourages responsibility, collaboration, and active participation. Collaborate with faculty, administration, and families to support students and contribute positively to the broader life of the school. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, Instrumental Performance, or a related field preferred. Teaching experience in string instrumental music, performing arts, or middle school instruction preferred. Strong knowledge of instrumental technique, music literacy, rehearsal strategies, classroom management, and age-appropriate music instruction. Ability to support the mission, values, and culture of a private school community. Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and build positive relationships with students and families. Experience preparing students for concerts, recitals, ensembles, or school events is a plus. Commitment to creating an inclusive and encouraging environment where students can grow musically, socially, and personally.
