Job Description

Sacred Heart School is looking for the next member of our team to serve as SHS Music Teacher ! The SHS Music Teacher reports to the SHS Principal and is responsible for: Modeling and teaching Catholic doctrine, values, and morals. Fostering the spiritual development of students. Working cooperatively with administrators, faculty, students and parents to form a faith community in the school & parish. Preparing lesson plans & teaching in assigned subject area and grade level in accordance with state & diocesan guidelines. Using relevant technology & a variety of mediums to support and differentiate instruction. Recognizing the variety of student learning styles & facilitating learning by adapting instructional methods & teaching materials to student needs. At least twice per year (at the SHS Fine Arts Festivals) communicating with parents regarding student progress. Assigning & monitoring student activities to promote student learning. Supervising students within the school. Supervising students both at and away from the school when participating in school-sponsored activities in an official capacity. Consistently enforcing the school's discipline policies to maintain student behavior & discipline in the classroom. Maintaining school records as required by school policy. Implementing school safety procedures. Participating in diocesan & school improvement goals including professional development. Performing other work-related duties as assigned as well as other duties as assigned by the principal.
Education, Experience & Skills Required:
See P3020 for Non-discrimination & Religious Standards. Indiana teaching license in appropriate grade level/teaching area; or demonstrated eligibility to receive license. High level thinking skills. Currently qualified to speak and write coherently, fluently, and grammatically-correct English. Currently physically qualified to supervise students adequately. Strong written, verbal presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
