Job Description

Under the direction of the Fine Arts Coordinator and the principal, the Music teacher will teach elementary classes as scheduled, will coordinate music program with classroom programs when appropriate, will conduct a multi-age chorus and will participate in appropriate music productions. The Music teacher may be responsible for supporting Elementary School chorus and appropriate concerts.
  • Conduct elementary music classes as scheduled.
  • Provide clear written plans on a weekly basis.
  • Report on pupil progress through student report cards.
  • Conduct multi-age chorus and other multi-aged musical activities.
  • Conduct recorder and choral ensembles.
  • Report to parents on student progress when necessary.
  • Articulate music interdisciplinary program with classroom teachers.
  • Implement music curriculum.
  • Massachusetts certification in area of music at the elementary and middle school level.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching techniques in elementary music in Orff and Gordon Learning Theory.
  • Knowledge of recorder techniques.
  • Functional proficiency on piano
  • Demonstrated successful techniques in integrating music program into the curriculum of other disciplines.
  • Knowledge of successful techniques in mainstreaming the learning disabled.
  • Ability to communicate articulately and cooperatively with teachers, parents and administrators.
  • Demonstrate choral expertise.
  • Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.
