MUSICTEACHER, ELEMENTARY, PART TIME
(3 HOURS/WEEK) Torit Montessori School is an infant through sixth-grade independent school on Boston's historic Beacon Hill. Our mission is to educate bright and capable students in the spirit of Dr. Maria Montessori's groundbreaking methods, allowing students to explore materials, ideas, and applications at their own pace, with guidance, direction, and encouragement from teachers. DESCRIPTION andREQUIREMENTS
We seek a dynamic music teacher for a small elementary program of 15 students. The successful candidate will have responsibility for a keyboard and voice program. The teacher is responsible for supervising the classroom environment, developing and delivering curriculum, establishing classroom routines, family communications, and record keeping. Two recitals are expected. This position is part-time (3 hours/week, typically 8:30-11:30am, though we are flexible). Compensation is $45/hour.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
- Prioritize the safety and well-being of all students
- Lead an imaginative, engaging, and fun music program for students ages 6-12 during the school day.
- Organize music materials relative to curriculum goals
- Define appropriate behavioral routines
- Maintain professional communication with peers and families and exhibit a collegial demeanor
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty to enhance curriculum and community
- Participate in and support special events/activities, including an arts showcase
QUALIFICATIONS
- One to five years of experience with elementary-aged students
- AA required;
BFA/BA/BS
