Job Description
The Waldorf School of Cape Cod (WSCC) is a 40 year old independent non-profit school located in Sandwich, Massachusetts serving students in Nursery through 8th grade. WSCC seeks to provide a healthy, vibrant, and community oriented learning environment for our students. WSCC opened in a brand new location in September 2020 on a beautiful 3.5 acre campus including gardens, woods, and an expansive meadow. The school is situated one mile from the Sagamore Bridge accessible to a wide geographic area on both sides of the Cape Cod canal. Cape Cod is a beautiful seaside community with access to beaches, trails, and parks. Cape Cod has a small town New England feel and is a wonderful place to raise children. We are seeking a passionate, warm, talented teacher to inspire our children to become lifelong music learners and appreciators. The candidate should have the ability to manage a classroom of students, plan lessons, sing well and teach the students to read music. Theywill have the willingness to learn about the Waldorf School curriculum and understand the developmental phases of children so that our music classes will enhance the school's philosophy. The candidate will ideally have the ability to, and experience with the playing and teaching the recorder, and be familiar with other instruments too. Music is an important part of life at the Waldorf School! We have an annual Choral and Strings concert in late spring. Waldorf teachers are asked to do some summer preparation work/training and to work with a mentor for guidance in working at a Waldorf School. Singing class for grades 3 and 4. Chorus for grades 5 & 6, 7 & 8. The position would be 2 days per week, although there is flexibility in our schedule.
