Full Job Description Job Summary:
Provide instruction on brass, woodwind and percussion instruments in a small- group setting to students in grades 4-8. Teachers are responsible for the planning and delivery of the curriculum, as well as the supervision of the students. The job also requires conducting concert band. The successful candidate will be teaching in private and parochial schools in the Baltimore metropolitan area. This is a multi- school position and requires an automobile. Successful candidate must complete required background check and child safety training.
Responsibilities:
Establish a safe and productive learning environment. Recruit new band members in the fall. Work in collaboration with other music teachers and administration to meet the needs of our students. Teach lessons to students in grades 4-8 and conduct concert band rehearsal before or after school. Monitor student performance and report progress to parents. Keep accurate attendance records. Maintain excellent communication with colleagues, parents and administration. Plan and participate in scheduled performances. Although most performances are for the school community, there are occasions when the band will perform elsewhere, including festivals.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in music or music education required. Concentration in instrumental music education preferred. Proficiency in brass, woodwind and percussion instruments required.
Experience:
Working with elementary/middle school-aged students in group setting. Student teaching or teaching experience is required.
