Job Description

Position Summary Madison Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary Music Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students through music instruction while fostering creativity, collaboration, and academic excellence. This position serves students in grades 6-12 and includes instruction in general music, performance band, or other music-related courses based on the candidate's experience and the school's needs. Qualifications Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate Music Education endorsement (JX or equivalent). Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field. Demonstrated knowledge of music theory, performance techniques, and instructional best practices. Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Commitment to supporting student growth and achievement. Experience directing ensembles, performances, or extracurricular music activities preferred. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging music instruction aligned with Michigan Academic Standards. Develop students' musical skills, creativity, and appreciation for music. Assess student progress and maintain accurate records. Organize and direct student performances, concerts, and special events. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student success. Have performance based learning through at least two concerts per year. Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment. Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives. Support the school's mission and commitment to academic excellence.
