Job Summary:
Instructs students in music and prepares lesson plans. This position is for the 2026-2027 school year and will go from approximately 09-25-2026 through 02-06-2027
Duties/Responsibilities:
Teaches District approved curriculum daily. Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil daily. Accompanies students to concerts or performances or other types associated with musical performances. May specialize in teaching one or more areas of music, such as music theory and performance. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Translates lesson plans into developmentally-appropriate learning experiences daily. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals daily. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc. and communicates these objectives to students. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities daily. Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily. Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports as appropriate and required. Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and assists in developing strategies for individual education plans daily as needed. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner daily as needed. Communicates regularly with parents outside of the normal classroom day by various means such as newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc. daily as needed. Plans, coordinates and supervises the work of teacher associates, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips as needed. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations. Participates on school committees as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Education or related. Teaching certification required. Minimum 1 year successful educational and instructional experience in a public school setting. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents. Strong planning and organizational skills. Knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment. Knowledge and experience using varied computer applications and applied technology experience.
Physical Job Requirements:
