Job Description

MISSION STATEMENT
Legacy Academy partners with Branson area parents to develop truth-grounded, spiritually-formed, culturally-transforming Christ followers by classically cultivating affections for the True, Good, and Beautiful.
JOB SUMMARY
Teachers are responsible for the classical Christian education of their students. As examples to their students, teachers are expected to demonstrate high moral character (namely, to be Christ-like) and embrace the virtues of a classical Christian education. Design, plan, and implement effective lessons based on a classical Christian education philosophy, content, scope and sequence, and Legacy's pacing guide, which accords with ACCS standards. Director supervisor is Head of School; thus, this includes performing duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.
QUALIFICATIONS
Developing a living relationship with Jesus Christ and serve as a Christian role model both in and out of school Prior experience in classical Christian education is required
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Affirms that, as part of the qualifications for this position, he/she is a professing "born again" Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and who is growing in Christ (John 3:3, Hebrews 6:1). Accepts without reservations the Legacy Statement of Faith and is committed to upholding it. Faithfully attends a local church whose fundamental beliefs agree with the Legacy Statement of Faith (Hebrews 10:24-25). Gives testimony that he/she has a sense of God's will, that teaching as a minister is his/her calling, and that teaching at Legacy Academy is God's direction for him/her (Romans 12:2). Accepts and affirms without reservations and will support the educational philosophy and policies of Legacy Academy, as endorsed by the Board of Education and will work conscientiously to carry out the mission, goals, and objectives of Legacy Academy. Acknowledges and agrees to remain fully committed to the pursuit of a lifestyle, on and off the job, consistent with the mission and vision of Legacy, compatible with historical biblical standards of morality, reflecting the message, mission, and character of Jesus Christ. Manifest by precept and example the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model both in and out of school in judgment, dignity, respect, and Christian living (1 Peter 2:11-12). This includes avoiding "gross misconduct" which includes but is not limited to a. the use of illicit drugs, b. drunkenness and/or impaired judgment due to excessive use of alcohol and/or prescription drugs, c. any form of sexual immorality as defined by Scripture which includes any sexual behavior outside the bounds of biblical marriage, which includes the use of pornography (1 Thessalonians 4:3), d. deviation from the unique roles of male and female as clearly defined in Scripture, such as dressing and using facilities not in conformance with one's biological sex (Genesis 5:1-2), e. the use of profane language as defined by the Board of Education, and f. anything that violates the tenets of Scripture as exclusively defined and interpreted by the Board (Colossians 3:8, Exodus 20:7). Clear criminal background check required Must be able to ascend and descend ladders and stairs, required Previous music teaching experience preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES
Living Example of Excellence in
Christ:
Lives a godly life that will bring honor to the Lord and to Legacy Prays regularly for the ministry of Legacy Leads students in the daily reading/study of Scripture as requested Strives to be a personal model to the faculty, parents, and students of a godly servant-leader Agrees to abide by the published dress code in an effort to present himself/herself in a professional manner
Training Students:
Trains and disciplines the children toward godliness and high character Demonstrates, discusses, leads, teaches, and uses teaching aids to present subject matter to class and ensures a Biblical worldview is a part of each part of the curriculum. Teaches rules of conduct and proper etiquette Maintains order in the classroom Supervises lunchtime duty
Parent Collaboration:
Writes informative and accurate communication to the parents Completes comment forms/report cards in a prompt manner Communicates parent education issues through either verbal, written, or electronic means Counsels parents and pupils when adjustment and academic difficulties arise
Preparation:
Prepares course objectives and yearly outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines and Prepares, administers and corrects tests or other means of learning assessment and records results within a week Completes weekly lesson plans throughout the year Assigns lessons, corrects papers, hears oral presentations, and evaluates assigned projects promptly and thoroughly
Organization:
Updates lists of books and materials for classroom use annually and inventories them as requested Keeps accurate attendance records Fulfills all assigned additional responsibilities in a professional and timely manner
Attendance:
Attends and participates in all major school events If absent over allotted vacation/sick days, obtains and arranges compensation for the substitute instructor following the procedures outlined in the Faculty Handbook Attends scheduled Wednesday weekly faculty meetings as needed Is available for tutoring before school in office hours as needed, for his/her own students by appointment only
Personal and Professional Development:
Attends training before the school year begins, one day following the school year, and all training days in between Fulfills the Legacy requirements for the ACCS teacher certification program Abides by the information published in the Employee Handbook and Teacher Field Guide Faithfully reads required outside reading for continued professional and spiritual development
PART-TIME HOURLY
Tuesday, Thursday, 12-hour week minimum (9:45 am to 3:45 pm) Has the potential for more hours as needed. Hourly rate to be determined by previous experience and education 10-month work schedule (August - May)
