Music Teacher Montessori Community School Durham, NC Job Details Part-time | Full-time 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Teaching visual & performing arts Music Teamwork Learning technology Music Education Full Job Description Montessori Community School is seeking a warm, engaging, and enthusiastic Music teacher for toddlers through grade 8 for the 2026-2027 school year. This position offers flexibility and can be structured as either a part-time role with benefits (30 hours per week), or a full-time position with benefits, depending on the candidate's needs. Attendance at occasional evening school events and after-school staff meetings is also required.
Core Functions:
Instructional Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging music instruction to students from toddler age through grade 8, including vocal, instrumental, and drama components. Develop and implement a music curriculum that supports a diverse range of learning styles and abilities. Utilize technology and digital tools to enhance classroom instruction and support remote learning if necessary. Provide differentiated instruction to meet the varying needs of students.
Performance and Event Coordination:
Plan, organize, and direct student musical performances, concerts, and other related school events. Collaborate with colleagues and school staff to integrate music instruction with other subjects and school programs.
Communication and Reporting:
Maintain clear and effective communication with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress, expectations, and program details. Prepare and write progress reports for each student according to school guidelines. Conduct conferences with parents and guardians during scheduled conference days/times
Classroom and School Environment:
Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active learning, positive behavior, and respect for others. Ensure the care and safety of students in the classroom and during music-related activities.
Professional Development and Collaboration:
Attend and participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance interdisciplinary projects and programs.
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to all school policies, state regulations, and safety protocols. Occasionally move up to 50 pounds as required for setting up performances or moving equipment.
Requirements:
Degree in Music or Music Education Experience in or familiarity with Montessori educational philosophy is highly preferred Citizenship, residency or work visa required On-campus attendance and supervision of students is a core function of the position
