MUSIC TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION WHITEVILLE CITY SCHOOLS REPORTS TO
: Principal
JOB FUNCTION
Incorporating musical instruments and movement in lessons. Planning and implementing a program of instruction and lesson plans. Preparing students for school concerts and planned music experiences. Coordinates all aspects of teaching music to ensure optimal learning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitoring students' learning progress Adapting the lessons to suit the students' needs Providing direct and honest feedback at pupils' request Charting the growth of pupils' skills and capabilities until they have achieved mastery of the instrument Teaching pupils about the theory of music Instructing pupils in essential skills, such as reading sheet music Develop lessons to aid student in their learning activities All other duties as assigned by the principal.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL SETS
Below are the qualifications expected of a music teacher: Bachelor's degree or higher in a music-related field Ability to play the guitar or other musical instruments Ability to teach another person how to play the guitar Reliable interpersonal skills for one-on-one music lessons Deep understanding of music theory, music education, and general music Functional knowledge of sheet music composition Appropriate communication skills for elementary schools, high schools, or accredited colleges
