Music Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and engaging certified Music Teacher to join George Washington School in Hackensack, NJ for the 2026-2027 school year. This position focuses on providing adaptive music instruction to students with diverse learning, developmental, and behavioral needs. The ideal candidate will use music to support student growth in communication, social skills, and emotional development.

Responsibilities:

Provide music instruction to students with special needs in individual and group settings Adapt lessons to meet a variety of learning styles and ability levels Incorporate music to support social, emotional, and behavioral goals Create a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff Participate in school activities, events, or student showcases Qualifications (Required): Valid NJ Teaching Certification in Music - Required Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or related field Experience working with children or adolescents with special needs Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to adapt instruction and align with IEP goals

Preferred:

Experience in a special education or therapeutic setting Background in adaptive music instruction or music therapy techniques
