JOB SUMMARY
To prepare athletes for competition. Participation opportunities are offered at the Varsity, Junior Varsity, 'C' Team, 9 th grade, 8 th grade and 7 th grade levels of competition for many of the sponsored sports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Teaching sports techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics. Conditioning athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength and agility. Supervising and conducting practices and contests safely; supervising locker rooms and buses. Teaching sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to one's team. Monitoring athletes' school attendance, grades and personal conduct. Responding to player injuries with approved first aid techniques. Managing uniforms, equipment and school facilities in a responsible manner.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Vacancies for coaching positions are developed at each school and forwarded to the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources for posting in schools. Candidates for coaching positions are screened, interviewed by the high school athletic director and/or principal. To apply for a coaching job, candidates submit a letter of interest to the office of Human Resources. The athletic director will review all candidate backgrounds and recommend candidates to be interviewed.
SALARY:
Coaching salaries vary depending on the coaching assignment and the level of competition (Freshmen, Sophomore, JV or Varsity). Applicants should list related playing or coaching experiences and any training completed. In addition, candidates should list the sports they feel most comfortable teaching/coaching.
