About Us:
The Renaissance Charter School 2 is a charter school in Elmhurst, NY. We are professional, agile, innovative and our goal is to identify a passionate and experienced music teacher to join our team as a Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing school and help shape our curriculum and instructional approach from the ground up. We're looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and compassionate Music Teacher to join our team and to inspire students of various ages in developing their musical skills and appreciation. A successful candidate will be responsible for teaching classes, scaffolding content materials for students, and participating in building a meaningful school community. The ideal candidate for this position has a background in education, has exceptional communication skills, and a passion for helping others. This role involves fostering a positive learning environment, nurturing creativity, and supporting students' musical growth through innovative lesson planning and personalized instruction.
Duties:
Design and implement comprehensive music curricula tailored to different age groups and skill levels, including early childhood education and preschool programs. Deliver engaging lessons on various musical instruments, singing, music theory, and performance techniques. Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe and productive learning environment. Incorporate diverse teaching methods such as theater, dancing, and photography to enhance musical instruction. Provide tutoring sessions for students needing additional support in music or related arts like ballet, sewing, or culinary arts. Develop assessments to monitor student progress and adapt lessons accordingly. Organize performances, recitals, or showcases to give students opportunities to demonstrate their skills. Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other educators to support student development in childhood development, behavior management, and special education needs. Maintain classroom organization and ensure all equipment and materials are properly used and stored.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field; Master's degree preferred Valid New York State teaching certification in K-12 Art Relevant years of teaching experience, preferably in an urban setting Understanding of Common Core State Standards and evidence-based instructional practices Strong background in music education with knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom experience. Skills in teaching various subjects such as theater, ballet, sewing, cooking, or culinary arts are a plus. Experience using data to inform instructional decisions and personalize learning for students Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students of different ages and backgrounds. Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and a belief in the potential of all students Experience in working in an ICT classroom settings a plus Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a positive learning environment. Creativity in integrating arts like photography or theater into music lessons is advantageous. $78,000.00 - $104,000.00 per year
