POSITION SUMMARY
Teaching classes and lessons part-time for one of the country's most impactful music programs, which removes barriers to musical instruction and champions diversity in classical music while encompassing other musical styles. Students are typically in 5th through 8th grade. School-day availability of at least two days per week is preferred. CCGS provides training in classroom curriculum. Classes and lessons are held during the school day at schools on the near-east side (Hough, University Circle) and near-west side (Clark Fulton, Tremont); some lessons are held after school.
COMPENSATION
Part-time Guitar Teacher; $50
  • 70 per hour for classes and $40
  • 52 per hour for lessons, commensurate with experience and education.
About 4-8 hours per week.
TIMING:
Screening interviews begin June 2026. Rolling applications accepted until the position is filled. Instruction to begin in late August or early September.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education / Experience
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in music or a related field is strongly preferred, but not mandatory. We welcome candidates with at least 2 years of experience in classical or other fingerstyle guitar performance or music education. Must have a minimum of 2 years or more of experience teaching guitar.
  • Skill
  • Proficiency in fundamental fingerstyle techniques remains essential.
  • Teaching Skill
  • Demonstrated high-level teaching capabilities, underpinned by an ability to effectively engage with colleagues, students, and their families while fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment.
  • Travel
  • Classes and lessons are held at various sites.
Must be able to travel locally to sites and programs.
