Position Title:
Private Music Lesson Instructor
  • Voice Germantown Academy is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school located on a beautiful 126-acre campus in the Fort Washington suburbs near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The school serves more than 1,200 students in grades PK-12. Founded in 1759, GA is America's oldest non-sectarian day school with rich traditions and a strong commitment to ongoing innovation of curricular and pedagogical practices. We are seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the part-time position of voice instructor beginning the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for an individual that is available 2-3 days a week to give in-person instruction during the school day. The compensation is highly competitive and based on studio enrollment.
Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, instruct, and retain students (6-12th grades) on voice annually
  • Capability to teach a wide range of ability levels, from basic music literacy to college preparatory instruction
  • Proficiency in and openness to a variety of music genres
  • Prepare students for and attend a yearly studio recital
  • Collaborate with Choir Director and Musical Theatre Director on preparing students for their performances
  • Demonstrate commitment to departmental engagements including collaborative interaction with performing arts faculty and staff
  • Work closely with the Private Music Lesson Coordinator to help lead a growing studio
  • Organize studio lesson schedules, working with students to set a lesson time
  • Communicate regularly with families and respond to issues involving private lesson scheduling
  • Ensure that all rules and policies of the private lesson program are followed judiciously
  • Responsible for identifying new program needs and possibilities for expansion as they arise
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience is required
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in vocal performance or music education with vocal emphasis is required, or equivalent teaching/performance experience
  • Exhibit master vocal performance skills, including classical, popular, and jazz styles
  • Demonstrate proficient piano skills, as needed for teaching one-on-one vocal instruction
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities
  • Previous experience as a voice instructor and a significant choral background strongly preferred
