The Bachelor of Science in Health Services is seeking adjunct professors to teach a class/classes in the undergraduate program for Health Services. Supports as an instructor in all aspects of this blended interdisciplinary program. The B.S. in Health Services program is designed to prepare students to work as medical and health services providers, charged with planning, directing, and coordinating medical and health services. Graduates of the BS program will be prepared to work in different healthcare settings, such as hospitals, specific clinical areas or departments within those facilities, health management organizations, or in medical practice groups.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate courses in health services based on course needs Develop and organize course syllabi, assignments, exams, and course content as needed. Provide engaging and effective instruction to undergraduate students in person or online, as required. Assess and evaluate student performance through grading of assignments, exams, and projects. Hold office hours to meet with students and provide academic support. Participate in BSHS meetings and maintain communication with faculty and staff as necessary. Stay current with developments in the discipline and incorporate them into course materials and teaching methods. Follow university policies and procedures in teaching, grading, and conducting academic responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications A Master's degree or higher in a related discipline Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to engage and inspire students in a diverse academic environment Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an adjunct faculty member at VCU Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching online and face-to-face Familiarity with Canvas PhD or in progress Experience in a related field to program content
Salary Range:
$4,311 for 3 credit course
