Music Teacher Pawtucket School Department - 3.7 Pawtucket, RI Job Details Full-time 5 hours ago Qualifications Teaching Certification Bachelor's degree Parent-teacher conferences (communication methods) Full Job Description The Pawtucket School Department is seeking a school music teacher. Under the direction of the school administrator, the classroom teacher will implement the music education curriculum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Illustrate basic musical concepts (e.g. time and rhythm) for students through activities such as playing recorded music or playing an instrument in class accompanied by studentsDesign creative activities to allow students to experience different musical styles, interpret musical scores, and compose their own musicProvide aural training through the performance of music, talks, discussion, practical music, and written assignmentsIntroduce individual students to particular instruments and assess students needs in regard to instrumental trainingSets up and conducts school choirs and orchestras and concert bandsPlans and provides appropriate learning experiences for studentsProvides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student.

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goalsEstablishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicates these objectives to students and parentsPrepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisorMonitors and evaluates student outcomes. Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practicesMonitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilitiesParticipates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

Prepares a wide variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying informationCommunicates and interacts with students, staff, parents and the communitySupervises students in a variety of school related settings. Actively participates in advisory program and monitors and supports students in advisory classEstablishes relationships with families to communicate student progress Is Knowledgeable of and Skilled at: Instructional techniques Assessment techniques Professional Learning CommunitiesDifferentiated instruction techniquesManaging classroom procedures and behaviorsOrganizes physical space to create a safe, accessible, and resource-rich environment Preparing and maintaining accurate recordsRTI (Response to intervention)PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support)Cultural competencyConflict resolutionAbility is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groupsAble to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school based staff, students, parents and the communityWork with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment.

Licensure/ Certificate Requirements:
The position requires a Bachelors degree and valid RI Certification for Music, Grades - K-12.A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university Proficiency in at least one instrument
Desirable Qualifications:
Minimum of two years teaching experience
Compensation/Hours/Benefits:
Full PSD benefits package; 184 day contractSalary range is dependent on step level and degree attainment level
