Job Description

Summary The Oakville School District seeks a passionate and dedicated music educator to join our team for the 2026/2027 school year. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore their musical talents, foster a love for music, and develop their skills in a supportive and engaging environment. This full-time position offers an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant arts program and collaborate with a diverse community of educators and students. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum for students of varying ages and skill levels. Teach music theory, performance, composition, and appreciation through a variety of instructional methods. Conduct individual and group lessons, ensuring personalized attention and support for each student. Organize and lead school concerts, recitals, and other musical events to showcase student talent. Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate music into the broader educational experience. Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement. Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and self-expression. Engage with parents and the community to promote the music program and foster a strong partnership in student learning. Stay current with music education trends and incorporate new teaching strategies and technologies into the classroom. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field. Valid teaching certification in music for the state of Washington. Proven experience teaching music in a school setting, preferred. Strong proficiency in one or more musical instruments and/or voice. Knowledge of various music genres, teaching methodologies, and assessment techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school community.
