Campus Ministry Director Schedule:
Part-time (10-15 hours). Hours are flexible with some Sundays required. This is a 9 month position approximately mid-August through mid-May. The church would consider the possibility of a Full-Time position for the right candidate who is also interested in the Director of Spiritual Formation and Outreach role.
Working Relationships:
The Campus Ministry Director (CMD) reports directly to the Pastor. Works collaboratively with the Pastor, campus ministry colleagues, students, staff and the Session. The CMD will also recruit, equip and work alongside a team of volunteers/lay leaders. I.
Summary:
First Presbyterian Church of Marquette (FPC) is seeking a CMD with a vision for campus ministry. We are a small church of approximately 125 members located on the shores of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Marquette is well-known as a desirable place to live for its outdoor beauty and adventures and for being ranked in the top ten best small town cultural scenes by USA Today. We have a strong desire for campus ministry outreach to Northern Michigan University (NMU) located one mile from the church. NMU is home to 7,200 students. The need for a Christ-centered student ministry that affirms women in leadership, LGBTQ+ students, positive mental health, stewardship and creation care, and values informed biblical, social and political engagement is evident. This position is responsible for the development of such a ministry in collaboration with the existing ecumenical ministry of Sacred Space (which has historically included four mainline denominations: Episcopal, Methodist, ELCA and PCUSA. Sacred Space is in the midst of some transition, so there is plenty of opportunity to build anew. We seek a Director aligned with the inclusive theology of the PC(USA) who embodies the gracious hospitality, teachings, and love of Christ. In addition, the CMD will have a visible presence within the FPC congregation, worship, and outreach events. II.

Primary Responsibilities1. Engage in & Sustain Campus Ministry at NMU
- Engage in the existing ecumenical
Campus Ministry:
Sacred Space which includes four mainline denominations: Episcopal, Methodist, ELCA and PCUSA.
- Build relationships with students and develop their faith formation.
- Offer regular gatherings for study, worship, service, and fellowship (including occasional retreats at local church camp Presbytery Point and mission trips). 2. Be the Connection between Students and the Congregation
- Regularly communicate the campus ministry happenings to the church.
- Build relationships between college students and the congregation. (Mentors, adopt-a-family or grandparent, etc.)
- Participate and encourage student participation in community outreach events when appropriate.
- Assist in worship leadership occasionally.

Qualifications:
- Background in Christian education, ministry, missional outreach or related field. Theological training preferred.
- Strong relational, communication and organizational skills.
- Background check required. Mandated PC(USA) Boundary Training upon hire.
- Commitment to PC(USA) theology and mission.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience and hours desired.
Range:
