The English and Philosophy department seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track teaching position in Philosophy, beginning August 25, 2026.Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Teaches introductory-level philosophy courses that address the fundamentals of the discipline, as well as courses in world religions or professional ethics. Teaches a full-time load of five (5) courses per semester. Develops course materials for classroom teaching and for online courses as needed. Serves on department, division, and College committees, and fulfills other duties as assigned. Engages in continual professional growth and development.MCC Expectations:

Required Qualifications:
Earned master's degree or higher in Philosophy from an accredited higher education institution at start date. Content mastery sufficient to teach introductory philosophy courses, plus at least one of the following: world religions or professional/applied ethics. Experience with computerized student record management systems and learning management systems. Evidence of effective communication (interpersonal, speaking, and writing) skills.Preferred Qualifications:
College-level teaching experience. Community college teaching experience. Enthusiasm for working with a diverse population of students, including those with various abilities and levels of preparation. Experience with High-Impact Practices and Universal Design for Learning.Additional Information:
Salary:
Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity, and college budget. This position has a starting range of $52,000 to $60,000 and is based on the mentioned factors.Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State :
Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications.
