Job Description

This position requires demonstrated knowledge in the discipline being taught. Courses are offered in a face-to-face format. Adjunct faculty are paid per course or per credit hour in accordance with the college's adjunct salary schedule Master's Degree from a nationally, regionally, or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education with 18 graduate hours in Philosophy required. Programs should be from a research based university. Minimum requirements would be eighteen graduate credits in philosophy including course work that aligns with Philosophy courses listed in the CTC college catalog. Prefer college level teaching experience in philosophy. Effective classroom management and student engagement skills. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Demonstrated ability to teach subject matter through education, experience, and skills. Commitment to working with diverse and under prepared student populations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain complex concepts in accessible ways. Knowledge of academic integrity standards and college-level expectations Commitment to equity, access, and student success. Must be efficient with using computers and learning various electronic systems such as Etrieve (electronic forms), Eagle Self Service and Blackboard. Demonstrate effective class management, providing maximum opportunity for student progress. Demonstrate organization and development of materials for course presentation, utilizing syllabi and textbooks approved by department. Ensure the course objectives, as defined in the syllabus, are accomplished. Provide prompt feedback on assignments and exam results. Monitor progress of students and counsel on a timely basis, when required. Ensure proper management and utilization of all instructional equipment, resources, and materials. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in compliance with college policies; submit certification rolls require by the Central Texas College Registrar office by submission due date. Adhere to college policies.
