Position Details Position Information Position Title Mission & Ministry Graduate Assistant Academic Year 2026-2027 UIW Mission University of the Incarnate Word is a Catholic institution that welcomes to its community persons of diverse backgrounds, in the belief that their respectful interaction advances the discovery of truth, mutual understanding, self-realization, and the common good. Position Summary The Mission & Ministry GA position will be responsible for supporting the spiritual and liturgical life of our UIW Community under the supervision of the VP of Mission and Ministry. Essential Functions Represent the University Mission and Ministry Office in assigned tasks and projects within and outside of the Office. Articulate the Mission of the University, history, charism, and practice of the Ecumenical and Interfaith movement in written and/or oral presentations including orientations and church events. Work collaboratively with the UMM team to develop and implement leadership development initiatives for our Peer Interns/Peer Ministers. Promote UMM programs on various virtual and social media platforms including working with our UMM Media Ministry coordinators. Formation and active participation in one's faith tradition through prayer and personal spirituality. Knowledge and experience of ones own tradition as well as openness to other faith traditions, prayer experiences, music, and topics relevant to being a young adult. Contribute to the effectiveness of work teams by fostering a spirit of cooperation and collaboration in accomplishing assigned tasks. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities Strong customer service skills. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, graphics. etc. Ability to follow directions and ask respectful follow-up questions as needed. Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. Ability to work effectively individually or within a team environment. Ability to collaborate with others within and outside of the department. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Required Education Current UIW Student enrolled in Religious Studies or Theology courses working towards Master's of Pastoral Ministry Degree. Required Work Experience Experience in an area relevant to the position. i.e. Religious Studies, Theology, retreats, etc. Leadership experience at the undergraduate level or in the public or private workforce. Preferred Qualifications Previous participation in ministry as a volunteer or in a part time or fulltime capacity at a church, school, organization, or other institution. Good standing with personal faith community. Strong public speaking skills. Competency in leadership planning, development and training. Working knowledge of various social media platforms and applications. Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations None specified. Work Hours 20 hours per week. Physical Demands Ability to lift up to 20lbs for event set-up. Ability to reach overhead, bend, and squat to retrieve events materials. Ability to push/pull event carts holding up to 40 lbs. Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time. Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage faculty, staff, and potential/current students, as well as attend meetings on campus.
