DEFINITION

Under the direction of the Principal and physical education teachers, supervises students in the locker/shower room, assists the physical education teacher during the physical education instructional periods and does related work as required.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS

Supervised by Principals and teachers to whom assigned; has direct contract with students, parents and staff.

TYPICAL DUTIES

Monitors and directs students in the locker/shower room before and after the instructional P.E. periods. (E) Follows teacher directions to help instruct students in physical education activities and games. (E) Helps supervise students indoors, on the playground and on field trips and accompanies students to the nurse's office when necessary. (E) Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE OF

Some knowledge about public education.

ABILITY TO

Function satisfactorily with middle school pupils. Follow written and oral directions. Must have an interest and the general ability to work with and direct pupils and to work well with other employees.

ENVIRONMENT

Indoor and outdoor environment.

PHYCIAL DEMANDS

Dexterity of hands and fingers to demonstrate activities. Hearing and speaking to exchange information. Seeing to monitor activities. Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to assist students. Standing for extended periods of time.
