Job Summary Job Summary The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for designing & implementing a comprehensive TK-8 physical education program that supports students' physical, social, & emotional development. The ideal candidate understands child development, enjoys working with students across a wide range of ages, & believes that physical activity is an essential part of a well-rounded education. Essential Responsibilities
  • Plan & teach engaging physical education classes for students in TK
  • 8th grade
  • Foster a positive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, & healthy lifestyles
  • Teach a variety of activities including fitness, movement, cooperative games, team sports, individual sports, & outdoor education experiences
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs, abilities, & developmental levels of all students
  • Incorporate social-emotional learning, leadership opportunities, & character development into lessons
  • Establish & maintain clear expectations for student behavior & safety
  • Monitor & maintain PE equipment & ensure safe use of facilities & materials
  • Assess student growth & communicate regularly to students & families
  • Supervise students during recesses, field trips, & other assigned duties
  • Participate fully in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, & community activities Requirements / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Teaching credential or equivalent experience in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students.
  • Strong classroom management & organizational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, & colleagues.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, & student-centered learning environment.
  • Enthusiasm for experiential education & whole-child development.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to contribute to a team-oriented culture

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, run, demonstrate physical activities, & actively supervise students in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, balance, lift, carry, push, pull, & move equipment used in physical education classes & school activities.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely & in accordance with school safety guidelines.
  • Required to communicate effectively with students, families, & colleagues, including the ability to hear and speak clearly in both indoor & outdoor settings.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, & the ability to adjust focus while supervising students & leading physical activities.
  • May be required to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including sun, wind, & light rain.
  • Occasionally required to use a computer, telephone, copier, & other office equipment for lesson planning, communication, record keeping, & reporting purposes.
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations & maintain a safe environment for students during physical activities.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Teaching credential or equivalent experience in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field.
