POSITION DETAILS
Assignment Term:
2026-2027 school year
Schedule:
Grades 1-5: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 AM - 2:45 PM (Includes a 45-minute unpaid break for lunch)
Grades TK-K:
6 additional hours a week (3 hours on Wednesdays and Fridays)
Position Summary:
Westlake Elementary is seeking a passionate and energetic Part-Time Elementary PE Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing physical education instruction to students in grades TK-5. This role involves facilitating structured games and activities for up to 32 students at a time, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles in a fun and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement engaging physical education lessons and activities for students in grades 1-5. Facilitate structured games and activities that encourage physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Adapt activities to accommodate students of varying abilities and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, cooperation, and active participation. Manage classroom behavior and maintain discipline in accordance with school policies. Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to support overall student development and well-being. Maintain and organize equipment and supplies used during physical education classes.
Qualifications:
. Previous experience teaching or working with elementary-aged children, particularly in a physical education setting. Strong knowledge of physical fitness, sports, and games suitable for elementary students. Excellent communication and classroom management skills. Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, run, and participate in physical activities for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies.
Compensation:
$20-25 hourly based on experience and qualifications.
MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or equivalency.
