BASIC FUNCTION
The Digital Learning Teacher serves as a key instructional leader in advancing digital literacy and innovative learning across the district. This role provides direct instruction to students in digital literacy skills, ensuring alignment with and support for the DMPS-wide digital literacy curriculum. The educator collaborates closely with classroom teachers to co-plan and co-teach lessons that integrate technology in pedagogically sound ways, fostering personalized and blended learning experiences. The Digital Learning Teacher also partners with the Library & Digital Learning Associate and DMPS technology department to address building-level technology needs that support instruction, ensuring a seamless and effective digital learning environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Deliver direct instruction in information literacy and digital literacy skills aligned with district standards, including supporting and modeling the DMPS digital literacy curriculum. Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology into instruction in ways that enhance learning outcomes and reflect best practices in pedagogy. Co-plan and co-teach lessons that incorporate digital tools for personalized and blended learning experiences. Support teachers in selecting and implementing appropriate digital resources and instructional technologies. Promote responsible digital citizenship and ethical technology use among students and staff. Provide coaching and professional development on technology integration and digital literacy practices. Coordinate with the Library & Digital Learning Associate and technology department on building level technology needs, ensuring classroom learning environments remain ready for instruction. Demonstrate progress toward meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards while modeling innovative instructional practices
ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(for every DMPS position): Attend work on a prompt and regular basis. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees. Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
