TEACHER Job Summary:
The Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for providing quality instruction in physical education and fostering an environment that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and a lifelong love of healthy living. This role includes developing and implementing PE curricula, encouraging students to be physically active, and supporting their overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet state and district standards for physical education. Instruct students in various physical activities, such as sports, fitness routines, and motor skills development. Promote teamwork, cooperation, and positive sportsmanship among students. Assess and track students' physical progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents. Foster a positive and safe learning environment by enforcing classroom and safety rules. Adapt lessons and activities to accommodate students with different skill levels and abilities. Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and school staff to support students' academic and physical development. Provide individual and group instruction, as needed, to support students in achieving their physical fitness goals. Plan and supervise extracurricular sports activities, events, and competitions. Maintain records of students' attendance, performance, and participation in PE activities. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field. State certification as a PE teacher (or eligibility to obtain certification). Experience teaching PE at the K-12 level is preferred. Knowledge of age-appropriate physical activities and sports. Ability to create a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Passion for promoting physical fitness, health, and wellness. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Physical Demands:
Ability to demonstrate physical activities and exercises. Ability to sit, stand, or move for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry sports equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for activities and sports events.
Work Environment:
Some evening or weekend hours may be required for after-school sports activities or events. Must be able to supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities. Occasional travel for sports events and competitions.
