Location:
St. Monica School (PreK3-Grade 8) Position Summary The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering a comprehensive physical education program for students in PreK3 through Grade 8. The teacher promotes physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong wellness while supporting the mission and values of Catholic education. The successful candidate creates a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to develop physical skills, confidence, and respect for others. Instruction and Curriculum Plan and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons for students in PreK3 through Grade 8. Teach fundamental movement skills, fitness concepts, cooperative games, and sport-specific skills. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students. Promote healthy habits, physical fitness, and overall wellness. Maintain lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with school expectations. Student Management Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment. Reinforce appropriate behavior, sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for self and others. Supervise students during physical education classes and related activities. Ensure all safety procedures are followed and equipment is properly used. Assessment and Communication Assess student participation, effort, skill development, and achievement. Maintain accurate records and submit grades and progress reports as required. Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student progress and concerns. Catholic Identity Support and uphold the mission, philosophy, and values of the Catholic school. Model Christian values and foster a spirit of respect, compassion, and inclusion. Participate in school faith-based activities and community events as appropriate. Professional Responsibilities Collaborate with faculty and administration to support school-wide initiatives. Attend faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required. Maintain current knowledge of best practices in physical education. Qualifications Bachelor's degree Massachusetts teaching license Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students preferred. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification preferred. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, and administration. Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education. Physical Requirements Ability to demonstrate physical activities and participate in instructional exercises. Ability to lift, carry, and move athletic equipment. Ability to supervise students in indoor and outdoor settings.
