Job Description
Sandwich Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative APE to provide district-wide services to students with disabilities across PreK- 22.
Requirements:
Hold a degree from an accredited college or university in Physical Education. Holds a valid Massachusetts Educator Licensure
Experience working with, and knowledge of, students with disabilities and physical limitations. Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): Provide specially designed instruction in physical education based on individual student needs and IEP goals. Evaluate all referred students for eligibility.
Prepare written evaluation reports that clearly describe student strengths, needs, performance, and recommendations. Develop and implement therapy plans for all eligible students. Participate as a member of IEP Teams and contribute relevant data and recommendations regarding physical education and motor needs. Develop and implement APE goals and objectives aligned with individual student needs. Consult with school personnel and parents/guardians on student progress regarding APE. Address individual student needs related to motor development, physical fitness, coordination, balance, mobility, endurance, strength, recreation, and participation in lifelong physical activity. Support students in developing skills that promote lifelong health, wellness, fitness, leisure, and recreation. Monitor and report student progress toward IEP goals and objectives. Maintain accurate service delivery, assessment, progress monitoring, and documentation records.
