Job Description
Monmouth Memorial School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Health/Physical Education Teacher. The successful candidate will provide a coordinated, developmentally appropriate PE and Health curriculum that promotes lifelong physical activity, wellness, and healthy decision-making. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about student wellbeing, skilled at engaging learners of widely varying ages and abilities, and committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and active learning environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate physical education and health instruction aligned with Maine Learning Results and applicable state/national standards. Design lessons and units that build fundamental movement skills, physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong healthy habits. Teach age-appropriate health education topics, including nutrition, personal hygiene, safety, substance abuse prevention, mental and emotional wellness, and human growth and development. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English Language Learners. Establish and maintain a safe learning environment, including proper supervision, equipment use, and adherence to safety protocols during physical activity. Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative methods; maintain accurate records and communicate progress to students, families, and administrators. Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and administrators to support integrated learning and student wellness initiatives across the district. Organize and maintain PE equipment and facilities; requisition supplies and equipment as needed. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, curriculum committees, and district wellness initiatives. Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress and program expectations.
