Physical Education Teacher-Immediate Need for Summer and Fall School Year Schoolhouse Montessori Academy - 4.0 Canton, MI Job Details Part-time | Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications School experience High school diploma or GED Montessori teaching method Full Job Description Summary of Functions The Physical Education Teacher encourages physical activity and athleticism while keeping in mind the Montessori curriculum during the regular school year and Summer Discovery School. The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for teaching skills and activities that transfer into physical activity outside of class. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Effectively organizes space, equipment and students for maximum activity. Coordinates student activities and provides adequate equipment to allow all children to be active at the same time. Encourages and motivates children to be active through teaching children how to lead an active lifestyle and leading by example. Monitors all children during physical activities to ensure their safety, health, and well-being. Assists in creating an exciting and challenging learning environment, using the Montessori pedagogy, for all children. Attends Open Houses, Parent Tours, and student conferences as requested by the Lead Teacher or School Director. Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or School Director. Minimum Qualifications 2 years' experience in a Montessori school and or applicable experience. High school diploma/GED. Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen training required within 30 days of employment. Physical Requirements Capable of performing the physical requirements of the position which include, but are not limited to: Lifting up to 30 pounds (moving student desks, lifting a box of photocopier paper, lifting and placing a child into a car seat). Standing and walking around the school as needed to monitor, supervise, and interact with students and staff. Sitting for extended periods of time, such as staff meetings, conferences, student activities, office functions. Communicating effectively in spoken and written word. Having adequate vision, hearing, and speaking levels in order to see and interpret the school environment, hear students and staff, and speak clearly and with sufficient volume for all students and staff to hear.
