ASAP Physical Education Teacher - Drummond Elementary (55.2% FTE) - 2026-2027 School Year (One-Year Position) Pattonville School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Physical Education Teacher, to join our team. Position Summary:
The Physical Education Teacher, under the general supervision of the school principal, develops students' physical skills and abilities, including strength, agility, coordination, and teamwork. The position promotes student understanding of the importance of physical activity for overall physical and mental well-being and motivates students to develop lifelong habits related to fitness, personal hygiene, and good health through engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs and delivers physical education curriculum aligned with district goals, objectives, and instructional standards. Provides instruction that develops student knowledge, skills, and abilities in physical fitness, rhythm and dance, coordination and agility, exercise, and sports. Promotes leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and positive social skills while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Monitors and assesses student growth and progress in physical education activities and adjusts instructional methods to meet individual student needs. Maintains accurate, complete, and timely records of student progress, grading, and attendance in accordance with district and building procedures and policies. Implements and enforces school and district behavior expectations to promote a positive and effective learning environment. Builds and maintains effective communication with students and parents/guardians to encourage family engagement and support student growth. Collaborates with professional staff members and participates in faculty meetings, professional learning communities, and required district/building initiatives. Selects and utilizes appropriate instructional materials, equipment, and resources consistent with district curriculum requirements. Engages in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices, instructional strategies, and developments in physical education and student wellness.
Qualifications:
Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university. Missouri Physical Education K-12 teaching certification Strong classroom management and communication skills. Commitment to equity, diversity, and student success.
Additional Duties:

Travel Requirements:
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles. Knowledge of elementary school reading curriculum and concepts. Ability to use learning software applications as needed. Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Why Join Us? Work Hours:
7.25 hours per day; 5 days per week Work calendar: 189 days (2026-2027 Calendar)
FLSA Status:
Exempt Salary:
Commensurate with years of full-time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year-by-year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. (Certified Teacher Salary Schedule 2026-2027) Candidates who have signed a contract for the 2026–2027 school year should consult with their current district to confirm eligibility for release prior to applying.
