Position Summary:
The Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and positive social interactions among students. The PE Teacher designs and implements developmentally appropriate physical education programs that meet state standards and encourage lifelong healthy habits.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement physical education lessons that align with Nevada state standards. Promote physical activity and student wellness through a variety of individual and team sports. Teach students about health, fitness, nutrition, and personal wellness. Develop appropriate age activities that encourage student participation and skill development. Ensure proper supervision and safety of students during physical activities. Assess student progress and maintain records of student performance. Collaborate with school staff to promote a culture of health and wellness across the campus. Organize and participate in school-wide fitness and sports events. Maintain PE equipment and request supplies as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in physical education, Kinesiology, or related field required. Valid Nevada teaching license with physical education endorsement required. Previous experience teaching PE in a K-12 setting preferred. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and encouraging environment for all students.
Work Environment:
This is an in-person role on a CASLV school campus. This role requires frequent physical activity, including standing, walking, running, bending, lifting, and demonstrating athletic movements. The position operates both indoors and outdoors, often in varying weather conditions. Proper safety practices must be followed at all times.
