Job Description
The Physical and Health Education Teacher reports to the School Principal of the CHP Schools. They provide our students with a foundation in health and physical education focusing on strength, stretching, and conditioning as a means toward developing resiliency and living a balanced and healthy life. The Physical and Health Education Teacher will also provide students with opportunities to monitor personal and team performance data. Finally, the Physical and Health Education Teacher will teach and uphold the CHP Schools' values through the teaching and implementation of team and individual sports.
I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following is an explanation of the duties of the Physical & Health Education Teacher. It includes the major highlights of the requirements of the position. There should be a clear understanding that the duties outlined below are not all-encompassing. Additional responsibilities may be assigned to the Physical & Health Education Teacher as required. Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythms and dance, individual, dual or team sports, utilizing curriculum designated by CHP Schools and other appropriate learning activities. Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of CHP Schools. Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning and implementing a balanced physical education program. Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement. Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the division's basic instructional philosophy and congruent with the course and CHP Schools standards; provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas. Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students. Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary. Maintains control of storage and use of school property. Evaluates each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge and contribution in team sports. Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress. Supervises students in out of classroom activities during the assigned working day. Administers testing in accordance with division testing practices. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

Professional Development Participates in individual supervision as scheduled by the supervisor. Accepts and follows suggestions, directives, and requests to perform additional duties willingly and flexibly. Completes and demonstrates competency in all mandatory training as identified by the organization including knowledge of child and adolescent growth and development. Participates in additional training as identified in supervision or by external licensing, contractual, and accreditation organizations. Education, Training and Experience Bachelor's Degree from accredited university or college required. Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred. Knowledge in bilingual education. There is a 37.5 hour plus work week that includes occasional weekend and evening work.
